PopVox was formed in 2011 and has several choirs across the UK.PopVox was formed in 2011 and has several branches across the UK. It was founded by Emma Nowell who decided to use her professional experience and love of music to create a fun, friendly adult choir.
The popularity of being in a choir is growing from strength to strength. “There are around 25,000 choirs in the UK, including school and church ensembles. Singing is the country’s most popular group activity after sport, figures now show.”
PopVox members meet weekly to work towards various events and performances. Most recently they have performed at the Netball World Cup Opening Ceremony, Liverpool Epstein Theatre, Chester StoryHouse, CarFest North, Southport Flower Show, Chester Food and Drink Festival, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool Empire Theatre, Warrington Guardian Awards, Winwick Carnival, Chester Half Marathon and St.George’s Hall. Although these performances are not compulsory, members who wish to perform in public have had incredible opportunities over the past few years including singing at Disneyland Paris and as the Show Choir in the West End Tour of ‘Godspell In Concert’ adding to the “wonderful experiences that PopVox members get to cherish.”
