PopVox Wrexham meet every Wednesday evening, at Ty Pawb.
Grace Walker was born in Manchester but has lived in Chester for the past 20 years. She trained at Leeds College of Music primarily in classical piano, graduating with a BA Hons in Popular Music Studies in both piano and popular vocal styles. Grace has always been very passionate about Music from a young age and during her training played and sang with Jazz orchestras, performing at Cork Jazz Festival, performed with functions bands, in musical theatre productions and sang as part of many different choirs. Grace has also achieved ABRSM Grade VIII Piano and ABRSM Grade VI Flute.
After travelling to Kenya to volunteer as a singing teacher, where she worked with the Kirenga Girls Choir, taking them to the finals of the National Music Festival, Grace decided to continue her formal training and went on to gain a PGCE in Music from Liverpool Hope University. She has since worked in secondary schools across the North West and North Wales as a both a classroom music and a freelance vocal teacher. During her 7 years teaching Grace has directed musicals, taught singing and directed many choirs of different styles and taken these choirs to perform at festivals such as Young Voices and FOCUS Wales. She has also undertaken training in singing and workshop leading with Opera North and Musical Futures.
After having a little boy two years ago, Grace has decided to leave the classroom and bring her love of music, singing and teaching to PopVox Choir. She is very excited about running PopVox Knutsford and PopVox Wrexham.
